Also referred as Hawaii Island Air, Island Air was an independent Hawaiian airline headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii. It operated the scheduled inter-island flight in Hawaii from its main base Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Oahu. Island Air was founded in 1980 under the name “Princeville Airways” and later in 1987; it was sold to Aloha Air Group, which registered its trade name Island Air. It began its scheduled operation on September 9, 1980, between Honolulu and Princeville, Kauai.
However, after 37 years of airline service, Island Air ceased all operations on 10 November 2017 due to bankruptcy.
