About Copa Airlines

Established in 1947, Copa Airlines is a flag carrier of Panama. The airline goes with the full name of Compañía Panameña de Aviación.fre. And it is not only known as the best airline in Latin America but today the airline is also recognized as the on-time airline in Latin America. It is managed by South Africa’s Copa Holdings. It flies to over 80 destinations in 33 countries in North, South and Central America along with the Caribbean. 

Originally, the airline was established as Compañia Panameña de Aviación (providing the acronym COPA) in 1944 by a group of Panamanian investors assisted from Pan American Work Airways and began operating in August 1947. It started operating its domestic flights with a small fleet of Douglas DC-3 aircraft and in the 1970s, they started international flights to Colombia, Costa Rica and Jamaica. Copa Airlines is a Star Alliance member and the passengers which fly with Copa Airlines flights in its business class get access to a special line at the airport check-in and boarding counters in order to reduce waiting time, priority baggage handling and Copa and VIP lounges worldwide.

In-flight Entertainment

Each month, Copa Airlines to its passengers flying in its planes offers a range of movies, new content, music channels in order to keep them entertained on their Copa flight. Passengers are able to watch TV shows and more while flying with Copa and can also download the airline’s app in order to stream their inflight entertainment straight to their personal device. In order to watch movies on your personal device, passengers can download the Copa app. There is no WiFi availability on Copa Airlines flights, however, there is a service called showpass which allows passengers to stream TV/film onto their digital device via WiFi (but this is only available only on selected flights).

Meal Options

Baggage Policy

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers which have reserved their tickets with Copa Airlines reservations are allowed one piece of carry-on baggage for domestic flight flying within Panama. This hand luggage is going to be a maximum of 10 kilograms and fit the dimensions 22 x 14 x 10 inches. For international flights, the allowance of luggage is dependent on the passenger’s cabin class. The passengers which are traveling in business class are permitted to carry 2 carry-on bags, weighing a maximum of 10 kilograms each. But it is important to note that if flying to or from the United States the carry-on baggage allowance is 1 bag.

The other passengers, the allowance of baggage is a single piece per person, weighing a total of 10 kilograms. In addition to the carry-on baggage, each passenger is permitted to a single personal item. These items include handbag, coat, and laptop case. The dimensions of the personal items must measure a maximum of 36 combined inches, this applies to both domestic and international flights.

•    Economy Promo & Classic Fares: 1 piece, 23 kilograms’ maximum weight. 
•    Economy Full Fare: 2 pieces, 23kg each. 
•    Business Class: 2 pieces, 32kg each. 

Excess Baggage

Copa Airlines charge for bags which are not pre-purchase or allocated according to the type of ticket. The changes for these range from USD 40 to USD 175. Extra baggage can be added into the reservation while booking flights on Cheapbestfares.

The facility of airport check-in is the only way of check-in for the ones travelling with pets or someone who needs special assistance.
